What We Believe

In a world where beliefs and stances seem extremely fluid and relative, the Church has to be sure that our foundation is sure and unchanged.  As a New Testament church, the foundational pillars of belief determine how we live our lives and make difficult decisions.  The Word of God is our ultimate authority.

Below we have stated foundational beliefs that guide the way Faith Baptist Church functions as the Body of Christ.  As always, please contact us to talk through any questions or need for clarity in what we believe.

Foundations

THE SCRIPTURES
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God as the authors were moved by the Spirit of God. Therefore, we believe that Bible is without error and is the final authority for all teaching, preaching, and practice.
MANKIND
We believe that humanity was created male and female in the image of God to have fellowship with Him, but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own effort.
UNIVERSAL CHURCH
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world.
FUTURE
We believe that Jesus is returning at any time to finish his work in us, making us like himself, to judge the world, resulting in eternal heaven for those who believe and eternal condemnation for those who reject Christ, and to finally conquer sin, restoring all creation from the brokenness that sin caused. This is where the description goes.
GOD
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct, eternal persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that God the Father created, loves, and sustains the world according to His own will.  We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the world. We believe that the Holy Spirit was sent by Jesus as the guarantee of our final salvation and guide until Jesus returns.
SALVATION
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross provides the sole basis for forgiveness of sin. He took our sin and its just punishment, giving us his righteousness and its gracious benefits. Therefore, salvation is possible only through faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for the believer’s sin. From the moment of salvation, believers begin a journey of becoming more like Christ as he lives through them.
LOCAL CHURCH
We believe that all Christians, united as the Body of Christ, are to gather in local assemblies for worship, encouragement, accountability, and support. While denominations and associations are valuable, we believe local, autonomous assemblies are best suited to accomplish the Church’s primary purposes. Believers demonstrate their identification with the Body of Christ through baptism by immersion and believer’s communion.
